
The Hoeksche Waard was looking for a new mayor. This was a interresting project because in the last 7 years they’ve had 7 different mayors. This time they we’re looking for a candidate that would fullfill the long-term job description.

The search for a new mayor
Hoeksche Waard has a diverse community and a rich history. With 90 thousand residents and a surface of 323,7 km² it is one of the largest municipalities in the Netherlands. It has also seen its fair share of mayors. With 7 different mayors in 7 years they are looking for a mayor that stays for a long term, but how do you find someone for the job?
We set up a campaign and worked with multiple instances to create a broadscale of online and offline visability. Newspapers, print, social media and large productions were used to approach the target group and attract possible candidates.

Before finding the right candidate we had to understand who the right candidate is, and what defines them. Talking to the municipal council, residents and the King’s Commissioner, we ultimately produced a profile skech containt what the ideal candidate would be like. This took the form of a magazine that would be used for information of the community, the job description and expectations.

The campaign we designed was focused on showing the skills and keywords the new mayor of the Hoesche Waard should have. With 4 different keywords in mind we made a design. This design would become central in the whole campagne. The keywords are Charisma, Daadkracht, Lef & Humor and behind would be portraits of Hoeksche Waard residents.
We made a combination of offline media to distribute from all different sizes, from flyers to posters and busstops to billboards.

Because we wanted be visable online as well as offline we made 3 different video’s, with the main focus on showing what the Hoeksche Waard brings to the community. Showing it’s landscape, inhabitants and with the call to action that we are looking for the perfect candidate.
For both video’s I had written the scripts, storyboards and planned out the shots. I was in contact with another video-agency to outsource the project and I filmed the interviews and made the intro and outro leaders.
